THE SIMPLE LIFE.....

I love this photo of my daughter Leith with her children
Zoe and Georgia

It was taken when Georgia was just one day old....
and big sister Zoe, 6 going on 7

Georgia is now 15 months, a happy contented toddler
with lots to say....and big smiles for everyone she meets
Zoe, now a grown up seven, wonders what happened to the life
she once knew.....
where she could leave her pencils, toys, books etc,
for a few moments without some little person stopping by
and claiming ownership

" It's not fair Mummy " she says,
but all is soon forgiven when Georgia offers her face for her sister's kiss

What's not fair.... is that Leith is in her 12th week of chemo....
Still smiling, still happy, with such a lot to bear....
still a long road to travel

But with the wonderful support of her special friends and relatives
she's been able to maintain a positive frame of mind
and still has her zany sense of humour

Next week I will be with her in Melbourne .....to hold her hand....
and to give her some of the love she lavishes on her daughters

It's time for me to be with her....
to wrap her in cottonwool....
cook and clean as only a Mother can..........
and to cherish this special time we will have together.

When both my daughters were tots themselves and they suffered hurt or pain
They would come running to me saying "make it go Mummy" .......
A kiss and a cuddle.... tears wiped from their eyes..... and all was well with the world.

If only it were that simple

I'm sure all will be right with the world again...have a lovely stay here in a very chilly Melbourne. Although the weather is picking up, so hopefully it won't be too bleak while you are here.

My thoughts are with you

What a beautiful post. I will be praying continually and faithfully for her. She looks like so much fun. There is no one in the world that can touch my soul like my mother- an important balm to healing.

I'm keeping your sweet family in my prayers. Mother/daughter time is so healing, for both the care taker and the one being cared for!

Hello I'm new to your blog. What an amazing mom you must be! To be so strong for your daughter and family during this trying time! She will truly cherish your love and warmth only a mom can give. Keep the faith! I will say a little prayer for your family. Hugs,Traci

Hi Fat Bride Slim....wanted to thank you for stopping by my blog and your very kind thoughts. I've tried to post a comment on your blog a couple of times but haven't been successful. Just wanted you to know your thoughts were very much appreciated. Thankyou!

I hope everythings went OK in Melbourne and you were able to lavish lots of love on Leith and dish up some TLC as only a Mum can.

Thanks Lesley....the weeks flew by, a time of highs and lows as expected, but such a lot of memories to take home with me. Haven't been able to assemble my thoughts yet to get back to blogging, but have read all your wonderful posts. A comment about the AFL GF.... What a day, what a match (and your team won...how great was that) The comment of the day came from Leith though..." Ive got more hair than Gary Ablett...just" I know you'll appreciate that !

That's hilarious! Please give her my best wishes and I hope she's feeling back to her old self quick smart.
I had a great day GF day, although felt it extremely difficult to stay in one spot and watch the game.

I look forward to you returning to the puter soon
